Republic of Congo Country Overview

Geographic location: The Republic of Congo (Congo-Brazzaville) is a country found in the heart of Africa. The country is bordered northwest by Cameroon, to the north by the Central African Republic, to the east and south by the Democratic Republic of the Congo, to the southwest by the Angolan exclave of Cabinda, and to the west by Gabon.

Population: The Republic of Congo shows much promise with its young generation: 47% of the population is aged under 18.

Economy: Its economy is mainly driven by the oil and natural gas industry, placing the country as the third largest petrol producer in Sub-Saharan Africa, with petrol accounting for 80% of all exports. Despite it being rich in natural resources such as iron, phosphate and gold, the Republic of Congo does not possess any large-scale mining operations. The country still faces many challenges, such as poor electricity supply (only 66% in urban regions), which can halt investments.
